Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle, where the trial of  the Pendle Witches  took place in 1612, is no longer a working prison.

The last remaining prisoners left Lancaster Castle this week

The lease on the castle taken out by the Ministry Of Defence still has around three years to run.

The castle’s owners – the Duchy Of Lancaster – say any decision on the buildings future must be taken with both it’s commercial value and it’s local importance in mind.

During our Ghost Tour  around Pendle Hill A Haunting Experience will tell you what happened at the trial.
