THE INNKEEPERS - Ghost hunt film

“The Yankee Pedlar”, a supposedly haunted hotel about to fold after having been in business for over a hundred years.  Claire helps Luke pursue his dream of ghost hunting.  They take shifts wandering the hotel with a dilapidated EVP recorder in hopes of catching something for Luke’s website.

Whether they are getting drunk and airing their messy feelings for each other OR going on a few booze-induced ghost hunting adventures, these two have the audience completely enraptured.

Not only are the pic’s creepy undertones courtesy of the writing but also – and most importantly – from haunting sound design, Eliot Rocket’s eerie cinematography, and Jeff Grace’s musical score.

They take great pains to establish the lore of the haunting of the hotel: are mentioned but we only get to see two.  Did that last ghost simply vanish?  Spooky!

It will inevitably be compared to another film that features a large haunted hotel…                                                                                        (see more…)
